Mother and daughter exhibition at the Angela Mellor Gallery
Venue details: Angela Mellor Gallery 38a St Mary’s Street Ely, Cambridgeshire CB7 4ES
May 11 – 14 June 2008
Opening times: Wednesday – Saturday 10.30am – 5.00pm
IN RETURN - CYCLES OF INFLUENCE
The returning and revolving influences between textile artist Gillian Recordon and her painter daughter Tess Recordon.
Each receives from the other an influence and gives in return an inspiration. This unique exhibition explores the working relationship of these two well known Cambridge artists.
Although Gillian and Tess’s styles are highly individual, a surprising affinity can be seen in their work. Tess paints in an increasingly textural way, layering thinly poured oil paint onto canvas similar to the way Gillian pours and brushes dye onto silk. They both acknowledge the strong influence each has had on the others use of colour.
The paintings and textile works exhibited in Ely at the Angela Mellor Gallery will include pieces inspired by their trip together to Morocco.
