Frequently asked questions

If you have questions about COS membership or about artists on this site, please see if you can find the answer in the list below. If not, email info@camopenstudios.co.uk and we will do our best to help.

Cambridge Open Studios takes place each year over the first four weekends in July. Studios are open on both Saturdays and Sundays between 11am and 6pm. Some members are open for all four weekends, others for only some of them. See the Open Studios web pages or free printed Guide (available widely in the run up to the event) for information about which weekends each artist will be open. The 2012 Open Studios will take place on the weekends of July 7/8, 14/15, 21/22 and 28/29.

Yes - many of our members are willing to give tuition. You can find out who by searching on the 'tuition' option on the Artists search page.

Yes - many are happy to accept special commissions. You can find out who by selecting the 'Commissions' option on the Artist search page.

Many of our members are happy to receive visitors at other times of the year or in the run up to Christmas. This is indicated by 'Studio open by invitation' or 'Christmas open studios' appearing on their artist page. Please contact the artist concerned to arrange a visit. You can search for artists who welcome visitors at other times of year by selecting the 'by invitation' or 'Christmas' options on the Artists search page. Our Events pages also provide information about members' exhibitions and other events throughout the year. 

Galleries and other arts organisations in the Cambridge area will be invited to feature in a special section at the front of the printed Cambridge Open Studios Guide and on our website, for a modest annual fee. This will allow them to promote their own events, exhibitions and other activities throughout the year and enjoy a close association with COS. This facility will become available in March 2012. You can join COS any time between September and December to become a member for the following year. Your web page will be created immediately - so the sooner you join the better!

Yes – provided your home and studio are in the county of Cambridgeshire (excluding Peterborough) or in the CB postal area. We regret we cannot accept applications to join COS outside these areas.

Yes, you will. The registration fee covers the cost of setting up your account. It is charged to all new members and those rejoining after a gap in their membership.

Detailed instructions on how to move your location pin are given next to the map. If you are still in difficulties please email webadmin@camopenstudios.co.uk

Click on the 'Request new password' button on the log in page. We will send you an email to your registered email address giving details about how to log back into your account. Once logged in you will be able to change your password. If you have forgotten your registered address please email webadmin@camopenstudios.co.uk 

Access to members' pages is restricted for a period of time from March each year when we are downloading information from the site to go into the printed Open Studios guide. If you need to change something on your pages urgently during this time, or if you are having problems at other times of the year, please email webadmin@camopenstudios.co.uk. 

Make sure you are logged into your account. Go to Profile in the menu bar and select Images from the drop down menu. This will take you to the page where you can upload and delete files in your gallery. Detailed instructions on how to upload images, add captions etc are provided in the column on the left hand side of the page. If you are still having problems please email webadmin@camopenstudios.co.uk.

Yes, all members can participate. However, there is an additional fee charged for taking part. The amount for this is set in February.
