The Hole in the Wall Gang  -- The exhibition introducing Cambridge to the new Gallery 9
On the 1st of September 2017, Gallery 9 will open its first exhibition in partnership with CB2 Bistro. The Hole in the Wall Gang brings together the work of the six artists working in the Gallery 9 studio spaces. Visitors to the exhibition can expect a range of new pieces from artists who work with techniques as diverse as metalwork, painting, film, photography and printmaking.
It will be the last time that the gallery exists as a separate building, with a hole in the wall being knocked through into the restaurant before the end of the year. The hole in the wall will in many ways define the relationship between the established CB2 Bistro, and the new up and coming gallery space.
Some people may already be familiar with the work of the Gallery 9 artists, as they took part in all four weekends of Cambridge Open Studios in July under the name AIR at CB2. Nearly 700 people came to see the gallery and adjoining studios over the course of the month. The transition of AIR into Gallery 9 marks an important solidification of the space as a contemporary art gallery and workspace in the city.
Gallery 9 aims to be a fresh, exciting and inclusive space for emerging and established artists in and around Cambridge.
