Woodcarving, wood, sculpture
Sculptural forms in wood; abstracts, figures and vessels.

I make sculptures of figures and animals that are abstracted. Frequently my work is made on a flattened plane which allows me to exercise drawing skills and explore conflicts between real and perceived depth. I refer to this as working in "two and half" dimensions. From a practical perspective this approach allows me to "repurpose" offcuts of wood that would otherwise be discarded. This is important to me from a environmental/sustainable point of view. I have recently branched out into making vessels, often from greenwood.
