After taking early retirement I relocated to southern Spain, in the beautiful province of Murcia. Here one can experience all of the seasons in one day! Snow on the mountains in the early morning ,flowers in the garden at coffee time, sun on the sea at midday and later in the cooler evenings the log fire was needed!
I picked up my brushes again after a long break supported by a group of local artists.
Light and colour are the most important influences on my art.Travelling across Spain with its huge landscapes, each province completely different in its terrain, light and colours provided a myriad of subjects. The terracotta colours Cuenca, the White windmills in Toledo against turquoise skies, the sunlight and shadows of the ancient cities!
After ten years I have returned to East Anglia to live. Now I have the inspiration of giant fenland skies reflected in the water ways. An entirely different light and set of colours!
I use oil, acrylic and pastel in my work. I particularly enjoy the vibrant clear colours of pastel. Always striving to improve I take inspiration from varied workshops. Currently I am enjoying working on larger canvases in Acrylic and mixed media in a looser form.
I am a member of Ely Art lovers Workshop. I exhibit in the Babylon gallery and in the Ely Art Society summer Exhibition. This will be my first year in Cambridge Open Studios along with four other local artists as Fenfive in Wicken Village.
