July Open Studios
I treained as a graphic designer, graduating from Kingston Poly (now University) in 1986. I worked for a decade in top agencies in central London. My cheerful graphic approach is apparent in my work as a mosaic artist and more recently as a printmaker. I swopped my keyboard for nippers around about 15 years ago and for more than a decade I worked exclusively, both teaching and making with tiles and glass. I also wrote a book, 'Stylish Mosaics'.
I still teach mosaic art every Friday morning.
I recently revisted lino print after studying at the Curwen Print Study Centre and in the last few years have been exploring possibilities with printing lino onto clay, the resultant illustrated and fired pieces are mixed with mosaic art. I also print onto paper and have recently enjoyed a bookbinding course with Edel Books - an excellent destination for old prints!
I'm excited about taking part in COS this summer for the first time at Stoneman Press in Wimbish, (just outside Saffron Walden on Pinkneys Farm). It is the studio of Sue Jones and the actual home of Helen Wiseman (watercolour artist).
I hope you will come!
