Wonky Wheel Gallery

Wonky Wheel has two spokes to its wheel, a studio allowing the viewing and purchasing of artwork, and a workshop/course programme of artistic and creative events hosted within the same space.

Wonky Wheel was launched in July 2019 by Mary and Rob, but this wasn’t the very beginning of the journey. From an early age, Mary grew up sewing and learning about textiles from her Grandmother and Aunties. Mary got her first set of knitting needles from her Grandmother at the age of three.  This is where Mary’s love of all things beautiful and handmade came from and which led Mary to study Fashion and Textiles. However, Mary’s career got diverted into the corporate world for twenty years but Mary did continued to paint with Acrylic, pen and ink and painting on silk.

From an early age Mary always wanted to open a shop but the timing and location had to be right. Since moving to Essex Mary fell in love with a beautiful village called Finchingfield and she knew it was the right location for her Gallery. Mary’s current Art is available in the gallery and she will be introducing some new work this coming year.

With Rob’s shared passion for art, we have sourced artist’s from Ireland, Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Cambridge throughout the journey to opening the Gallery to the public in October 2019.

The Gallery - Will contain quality artwork sourced by the Wonky Wheel to offer the visitor something different, either in its look, design, detail, materials used, or from its source that may be an artist local to Finchingfield or from somewhere much further afield. The gallery should invite the visitor in, to enjoy their visit, to browse, to provoke questions, to inspire, to give them something to purchase, and to make them want to return in the future. We expect to display a range of art in different mediums along with pottery, jewellery and other handcraft creations, which will regularly changing stock and exhibits. The workshops - Our mission is to create a ‘creative space for creative people’ where local people can meet and work together and be creative. Wonky Wheel wants to be recognised as a leader in the area for supplying an outstanding choice of events and Workshops at an affordable price.
