Collette Kinley
embroidery, textile art
My detailed embroidery and textile art is heavily influenced by nature, ranging from allotment aerial views and coral reefs to insects and birds.

I am an embroidery and textile artist heavily influenced and inspired by my love and fascination of the natural world.  This is reflected in the subject matter I choose  to create in stitch - which ranges from aerial views of allotments to vibrant and colourful coral reefs to iridescent beetles, birds and fish.  My embroideries have a rich selection of stitches, texture, tones and colour to convey the form of the work I am creating in my own individual style.

My Allotment, A Bird's Eye View won The Saatchi Gallery Textile Takeover in 2020.  The idea for creating the allotment aerial view had been one I had wanted to explore for quite a while.  I had always found allotments mesmerising.  I love that they have an organisation both aesthetically and on a practical level, yet there is an unkemptness too.  I was drawn to this juxtaposition.

My work has expanded to designing bestselling embroidery patterns and kits of my work.

I was honoured to become a member of the the Society of Embroidered Works in 2019.

My work has been published in a variety of magazines.
