Rural and coastal landscapes from East Anglia, beach huts and modern florals. Vivid oil colours in a dynamic and loose style.

I am a self taught artist and have been painting in oils for over a decade now.  I paint almost exclusively with a palette knife, in a loose, dynamic style using a vivid palette of colours.  My paintings are often landscapes drawing on the East Anglian landscape for inspiration, from the Cambridgeshire fens through to the seaside of Norfolk and Suffolk; and I confess a particular fondness for beach huts and seascapes.  My most recent work is a return to an earlier fascination with the vistas of the Southwold area and a rejoining of a personal struggle with the contradiction of representational and expressionist work.

2019 will be my twelfth consecutive opening for Cambridge Open Studios, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share with visitors an insight into my work and methods.  I have pieces on show and for sale of all sizes, some on canvas, some on paper - framed miniatures to large borderless canvases, with some very affordable pricing.  I look forward to welcoming you to my studio in July.
