Influenced by the natural world, I seek out the more unusual views, looking for drama in a knarled tree, or formation of rocks.
The technique I use is loose acrylic paint on top of a textured substrait. Over this I apply soft pastel to the textured areas, bringing areas to life as the pastel hits the raised textures, but leaving parts of the underpainting showing through.

My influences are the natural world, which never ceases to attract me.
The landscapes I paint are acrylic with soft pastel on top, over a textured substrait. I either seek out dramatic scenery, knarled tree or similar subject - something that is different and attracts my attention.
My other technique is working with acrylic ink. This is very loose, letting the medium choose its own path. The inks call for dramatic shapes and the natural world provides these in abundance. The subject matter is either birds and animals, or distinctive flowers.
