Thinking as a painter, I photograph subjects in natural light, with a focus on stillness and silence. Still life, interiors, buildings Meter parking
In a former life, when a painter, I also worked as an art journalist. Not only was I therefore exposed to a great deal of visual art, but I had to think quickly and deeply about what I saw - everything from early Medieval to Conceptual - and having to really consider what I wrote, has helped to clarify my present style and so not to be afraid of change and experiment. My photography has become more painterly. I hardly ever go in search of subjects, but see them around me in my every day life. Because I like to work with large spaces and my studio is small, I create miniature interiors. When travelling, I take photographs all the time, but these are mostly of small details, giving a feeling of the place visited.
