A side table inspired by the Skylon at the Festival of Britain, made from hornbeam.
Cambridge Central Mosque
I was asked to design and make an Azan Clock and two collection boxes for the wonderful new mosque on Mill Road, Cambridge.
There was a lot to work with, design-wise. I took inspiration from the spectacular laminated timber columns.
The boxes are made from solid English oak on a birch ply core.
The clock is made from birch ply, covered with sand-shaded oak veneer.
July Open Studios
I design and make all kinds of furniture, mainly from hardwoods. I like to use the grain and colour of the wood as a part of the design. I have been a woodworker for more than 30 years.
My workshop is a tin shed in an old builder's yard near the river. I try to be as sustainable as possible, using wind-produced electricity, and heating the workshop with offcuts and shavings.
