Helga Hislop FLS FSBA Botanical Artist Born in London, the daughter of an Estonian mother and a Welsh father; Helga’s early years were spent in Australia and upon her return to England she trained at the Cardiff College of Art and the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London gaining her Diploma in Art and Design in 1964. In 1978 she changed from a highly successful career in graphic design to become a botanical illustrator, specialising in wild flowers and fruits.
Since her first exhibition at the Dorking Halls, Surrey, Helga has produced designs for greeting card companies and illustrations for books and magazines. In 1986 she became a founder member of The Society of Botanical Artists and in 2001 was elected a fellow of The Linnean Society.
To date Helga has exhibited at many galleries which include The Royal Horticultural Society, London; The Linnean Society, London; The Royal Watercolour Society; The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; Park Walk Gallery, London; The Cambridge Drawing Society; The Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art, Kew; Forum Botanische Kunst, Thungersheim; Finchingfield Guildhall.
In 2012 Helga published an album entitled 'Artful Nature' in a limited edition of 100, containing 164 coloured plates as her legacy.
