textile art & korean patchwork, printing and painting
My work reflects my passion for nature and humanity, draws inspiration from the natural world and is expressed through traditional Korean techniques.
I was born in a small fishing village on the South East coast of Korea and my inspiration often comes from childhood experience rooted in found-things such as driftwood or seaweed, mediated or augmented by traditional Korean wrapping techniques, intricate patchwork or tapestry. My colour sense is influenced by my background and training and is rooted in the five colours of o-bang-sec, the Korean palette.
