I took up ceramics almost 10 years ago by initially attending night classes and weekend workshops. After moving to Sydney I intensified by training at the Pine Street Studio and the Willoughby Arts Centre. I have also been guided by friends who are professional potters. I now work part-time and spend a lot of time concentrating on ceramics.
I have a fully equipped studio with an electric kiln and create both functional ware (bowls and mugs etc) as well as decorative pieces. I worked on a series of houses inspired by traditional houses in Mali and in Vietnam although they beacome increasing fanciful.
More recently I have been experimenting with flatter forms as a medium for bright abstract designs which borrow from a number of sources: indigeneous Australian art, Miro and Matisse cut-outs.
